A Message From Amanda:
Dear Friends, Colleagues and Supporters of the IHNA program,
As a number of you already know, I have decided to retire as the IHNA Director and I will be leaving at the end of May, 2009. Please consider this to be my sincere goodbye to each and every one of you.
I want you all to know that I am leaving with truly mixed feelings; happy about my retirement, but sad to be leaving such a great organization where I have so many wonderful friends and colleagues. Spending the last eleven years as a member of the IHNA team was the best period of my career. I learned a great deal and worked with many people with whom I am sure I will remain friends for a long time. I can only hope that my new endeavors at Family Promise will provide me with such rewarding experiences and supportive friends.
Thank you so much for making my time at IHNA a truly enjoyable one. Eleven yearsago our operations consisted of two rooms in the basement of a church. Now we have the day center on Central Avenue, the Children's Day Shelter, twenty-three participating congregations, nine transitional housing units, and many collaborations of other local agencies, all serving our homeless families. None of these initiatives would be in existence if it wasn't for the continued support and dedication of the Board of Trustees, the dedicated staff who have lived and believed in the IHNA mission statement, the faithfulness of the twenty three congregations, the leadership of their coordinators and the dedication of the outstanding volunteers (they donated 23,370 hours in 2008), who are the lifeline of the IHNA program. It has been my honor and privilege to provide leadership and direction to the 467 children, 766 individuals and 236 families that have utilized IHNA to achieve their success.
My very best wishes for the future go out to each and every one of you. May God bless you all, as I know he has blessed me.
Amanda L Gray
