Director:
Amanda Gray joined the IHNA family on December 17, 1998. Amanda comes with diversity, knowledge, and many years of experience working with homeless families and shelters. She has been married to Jim Gray for 38 years. They have two grown children and eight of the most beautiful and talented grandchildren in the world. If you don’t believe it, just ask her. For 20 years, Amanda has been very active in her community. Doing everything from being involved in Prevent Child Abuse, Domestic Violence Intervention, and the Task Force for the Homeless. Amanda’s wish for 2009 is that IHNA hopes to have a second rotation and have more transitional housing.
Administrative Assistant:
Buffy Rackley joined IHNA in August 2008. Buffy was raised in Mission Viejo, California and relocated to the CSRA area in April 2007 to be closer to her family. Prior to moving to the area, Buffy worked for a children’s center for abused and neglected children in San Dimas, California. Shortly after relocating, she met her husband, Paul, in Augusta. They were married May 2008. They make their residence in Edgefield, South Carolina with their yellow lab mix, Rusty. When not working, Buffy enjoys reading, crossword puzzles, and learning how to cook the wild game her husband brings home from his many excursions into the woods. Buffy is working towards her degree in Early Childhood Development.
Case Manager:
Sarah MacDonald first became involved with IHNA in 1995. In July 2008 she became the Part Time Case Manager. Sarah has been married to Georgia State Trooper Matt MacDonald since June 2007. She is a graduate of the College of Charleston with a BS in Psychology and is currently working towards her Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina.
Van Driver:
Sophia Bentley began working for IHNA in December 2007. Sophia is a native of Augusta, Georgia and resides with her mother, a nurse. In her free time, she enjoys going to the movies, mall, park, bowling, and playing pool. During the summer, she coaches ARC Basketball Camp for Girls. Sophia is also very active at Fellowship Baptist Church, where she sings in the choir and teaches Bible study classes. Sophia is currently attending Augusta Technical College where she is studying in their Barber School program and really is enjoying it.
CDS Administrative Coordinator:
Nikki Pressley began working for IHNA as the Administrative Coordinator at the Children’s Day Shelter in 2005. She has an Associates in Early Childhood Education and a BS in Human Services and Management. Nikki brings with her 15 years of experience working with children and has been both a foster and adoptive parent. She is very active in the community and many community projects, including Prevent Child Abuse Augusta. She also serves on the Augusta Technical College Early Childhood Education Advisory Council. Nikki has a 13-year old son. Together they enjoy music, hanging out in book stores, and traveling. Nikki also enjoys cooking and singing.
CDS VISTA Worker:
Felicia Dupass came to IHNA as a VISTA Worker in September 2008. Felicia was born in Brooklyn, New York but was raised in Augusta, Georgia, courtesy of the military. She is a graduate of Crosscreek High School and East Georgia College in Swainsboro. Upon graduating from East Georgia College, with an Associates in Sociology, Felicia was hired as an AmeriCorps VISTA Worker through the United Way Program. When she is not working, Felicia loves to cook, read, and dance. Felicia wants everyone to know how much she truly enjoys working with all of the children in the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Augusta’s Children’s Day Shelter.
CDS Foster Grandmothers:
Mrs. Sadie Jefferson has been a beloved Foster Grandmother at the IHNA CDS since August 2000. She has provided nurturing and companionship for many children over the years. Mrs. Sadie enjoys cooking, dancing, and playing Bingo.
Ms. Evelyn Spencer comes to IHNA through the Senior Corps’ Foster Grandparent program, which has been a part of for 14 years. She began working at IHNA’s CDS in April 2008. She says that is a pleasure everyday “getting up to come and see the babies”. Ms. Evelyn has two grown children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She love to attend church and spend time with her family eating out.
